"Teacher Appreciation Program"
Which teacher made an impact on You???
National Teacher Appreciation Day
Tuesday May 3 2016 - The first full week in May
It's almost time to recognize our Educators for all their hard work!
There's no doubt that educators are the fabric of our lives. If you have ever been a student, there was most likely a teacher (or two, three, four or more) that had a positive impact on your life. If you have children, you'll find their teacher's will have a lot of influence over your children's lives.
I always thought it was funny that my kids would tell me something they learned at school, and it would be something I've told them all along.
I'll never forget when my son told me french fries were bad for your heart because his 1st grade teacher Mrs. Storie told him so! Granted, we had told him that many times. Mrs. Storie said it and it was fact!
How about when the teachers support the manners you're teaching at home or encourage them to do right from wrong? What about the teachers who help kids that have difficulty in particular subjects by making the subject come to life or teaching it in a way that your child understands? How about tutors and academic coaches? What about the teacher who helps them make friends when they're having difficulty or takes care of them when they get sick on a trip out of the country? How about the teacher who encourages your student to try when they don't have confidence or to reach for their dreams?
We often think of teachers as those who only teach academics. Great teachers do so much more! They are memorable and leave an indelible mark on your child's heart.
My kids are both in college. They still go back and visit some of their favorite teachers. I've been honored to remain friends with several of their teachers.
Personally, I remember most of my teachers and cherish many of the lessons they taught. Much of who I am today is because a teacher cared.
I won't go into the negative things our teachers experience. I want to focus on the positive things. National Teacher Appreciation week is coming up. Please be sure to Thank a Teacher!
