LOL! This is a great post by Alan May. I found this via another blog and had to re-blog it. If you like dogs, you'll really LOVE it!
If you're like me, you'll watch the video first. Then when you read the post you'll find, Alan's post isn't really about the dog but about Not Judging a Book by its cover. And that is so true. Being in Real Estate isn't a beauty contest - at least not outer beauty. It's about servicing people, CARING about people, being HONEST, KNOWing the market, knowing how to negotiate, knowing how to navigate through difficult transactions and so much more! I could go on forever. Many of us market, put our photos on business cards, etc. because we have to. That seems to be what gets us in the door - brand recognition. However, it is the quality agent who gets the personal referrals time and again.
So, as Alan May says... "I ain't the purtiest Realtor, but dang, I'll work hard for you!" Enjoy the video
There's no question that Realtors come in different sizes, shapes and looks. Some are short and squat, some are round and portly (raising my hand), some are tall and lanky, others are comely, Greg Nino has his favourite BB'd Realtors... we all look different.
And we all ARE different. Each of us brings a different skill set to the transaction. Some of us just looooooove to do Sunday Open Houses, the more the merrier, others abhor them. Some thrive making cold calls several hours a day, others can't take the blatant rejection. Some create four colour brochures with professional photography, and glowing descriptions, and hand deliver them to agents in the area, while some photocopy the listing sheet (crookedly) and just plop them in the flyer box on the For Sale signpost.
Don't judge us by our billboards, nor by the professional photograph on the shopping cart at your nearest grocery store. Some of the homeliest of us (again, raising my hand) are those that work the very hardest. I ain't the purtiest Realtor, but dang, I'll work hard for you!
I thought that this video illustrated that nicely.
woo, and also, hoo!
