Below is a blog post written by a fellow blogger. There are so many things that go in to preparing your home for sale. As I prepare a home for sale, I can tell you not only as a Real Estate Professional but, as a home seller, this is great advice!
Preparing mentally to let go of the house but, not the memories can be a very important step for some home owners. For some it is easy as they're so excited to move on, for other, it is hard because of the precious memories. Either way, it is the first step of getting your house ready to sell.
Preparing Your Home for Sale- Step 1
If you’re serious about selling your home, there are steps you can take to make the whole process go smoothly, help to lower the time on market and protect the investment you have.
Even though it’s a seller’s market, you’ll still want to make sure that your house is ready-to-go from day one!
This part is a lot of mind over matter. Start to think of your beloved home as a house, one that you along with your crew of professionals will be marketing.
You’ll be taking all of the wonderful memories you’ve had ...the holiday dinners, your family get-together's, your first pet…to your new home.
Think about when you go to your local market.
When you’re walking down the aisles, and stop to buy a can of peas, your eyes focus on what’s in front of you.
That’s no accident! A lot of time and money were invested to make sure that their product had priority product placement and that it would appeal to all buyers.
Now you can’t relocate your house for priority placement, but you can ensure that when your buyer does drive up, they will want to look at your product.
Helpful hints to start viewing your home as a house…
These are Keys to Making the Transition from Owner to Seller.
Resist the urge to listen to all of your friends, neighbors, and delivery persons who will tell you that you shouldn’t paint over your beautiful mural you did in your master bedroom.
Photograph those growth marks you made as the children grew each year, then paint over them!
So, if you’re ready to sell your HOUSE (not home) and you’re prepared to do what it takes to market it and get it to show well to all buyers, you’re on your way.
